Dr De Lorenzo is a Consultant Physician at the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Lipid Disorders Clinic at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Hammersmith Hospital, specialising in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Prior to this, he was a Consultant Physician in General Medicine and Prevention of Vascular Disorders at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Patients seen in the clinic are: • Patients who are intolerant of first-line lipid-lowering treatment • Patients who do not achieve target lipid levels with first-line lipid lowering treatment • Patients with inherited disorders of lipid metabolism, including familial hypercholesterolaemia and familial combined hypercholesterolaemia • Relatives of patients with inherited lipid disorders who may require genetic screening • Patients for whom it is uncertain whether lipid lowering therapy is indicated He has published many papers in International medical journals, led several clinical trial studies in Cardiovascular Medicine and co-authored and edited chapters for several books related to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. He is a recognized researcher, who in 2003 was presented with the Clinician Scientist Award for his work at the Thrombosis Research Institute in the UK. In 2015 has been awarded a SHAPE USA (Society for heart attack prevention and eradication) specialist certificate (Heart Attack Prevention Specialist). In 2016 has been awarded a Fellowship from the British & Irish Hypertension Society. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians since 2020 (FRCP). Member of the advisory board of Advances in Therapy international medical journal (Springer Healthcare Communications), and Board member of the Cardiovascular Disorders and Medicine, Trends in Medicine and Therapeutics international medical journal.
